If you’re new to the smoothie world, this might not be the drink for you. “Add a pinch of ginseng to your favourite smoothie recipe” is a phrase you’re probably wondering about and I would encourage you to click on Remi’s Farm Life Smoothie recipe instead.
However, if you are like us and are now a committed daily smoothie or juice enthusiast for the health benefits, you’re in the right place. Whether your life involves driving the tractor, doing school drop off, or acing your work day, Martha’s Morning Magic Green Smoothie is the drink for you.
Serves 2
Ingredients:
A handful of kale
1 green apple
2 lemons
1 nub of ginger root
1 tsp ginseng powder*
3 stalks of celery
Half a cucumber
Instructions:
Trim and roughly chop celery, kale and cucumber.
Core apple (I leave the skin on for added nutrients)
Peel lemons and ginger.
Add ingredients to your blender including the ginseng powder and water to the fill line and blend thoroughly.
Taste and adjust ingredients as needed. For example, if it’s not quite sweet enough you can add a teaspoon of local honey. If it’s too thick for your taste, add another splash of water or some ice cubes.
Enjoy!
*Ginseng powder is most readily available from the dried root. This root has been thoroughly cleaned (and yes, cleanliness falls under government inspection) and is ready-to-use. Cut off the needed amount and whirl it through the blender until it’s powdery.
